Modeling & Simulation Engineer (Mid-Level) – Synthetic Environments
We are seeking an experienced Senior Modeling & Simulation Engineer to support the development of high-fidelity synthetic environments and simulation assets for defense training and operational analysis systems. This role focuses on the creation, integration, and validation of terrain databases, 3D models, and geospatial data used within military modeling, simulation, and training platforms.
The successful candidate will develop high-resolution 3D models of buildings, vegetation, clutter, vehicles, and equipment for use in simulation environments. The candidate will work with industry-standard tools such as 3ds Max, Maya, and Blender, and integrate assets into simulation engines including Unreal Engine, Unity, and VBS. The role will also support the development, organization, and maintenance of modeling and simulation asset libraries.
Additional responsibilities include preparing and processing geospatial datasets used in terrain generation and simulation environments. Candidates should have experience working with GIS tools such as QGIS and ArcGIS/ArcMap.
The position will also contribute to Agile development processes, working closely with product owners, engineers, and development teams to deliver capabilities. Responsibilities may include supporting technical demonstrations, testing activities, and stakeholder engagements related to modeling, simulation, and training systems.
The ideal candidate will have experience in 3D modeling, terrain database generation, GIS data processing, and simulation content development within modeling, simulation, and training environments. Familiarity with Agile workflows, software testing practices, and cybersecurity-focused development environments is desirable.
Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographic market up to our highest geographic market within California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, and Washington:$81,000.00 - $173,000.00 annually.
