Job Description

The FAI Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for performing First Article Inspections (FAI) to verify that manufactured parts meet engineering drawings, customer specifications, and applicable quality standards. This role plays a critical part in ensuring product compliance, supporting production readiness, and maintaining a high level of quality throughout the manufacturing process.

What You Will Do:

  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 and customer-specific requirements
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and purchase order requirements to ensure full compliance
  • Measure and inspect parts using precision measuring instruments
  • Accurately document inspection results and complete FAI reports and related quality records
  • Identify nonconformances and work with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve issues
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for FAI-related discrepancies
  • Maintain inspection records in accordance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with in-process and final inspections as needed
  • Ensure compliance with quality management systems
  • Promote continuous improvement and adherence to quality standards across production

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
  • Previous inspection experience, inspecting electronic assemblies

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Strong familiarity with AS9102 FAI requirements (aerospace experience preferred)
  • Strong familiarity with Collins Workmanship Standards experience
  • Qualifications as Certified Inspector and/or Certified Quality Self Inspector for several production processes preferred
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Commitment to quality and continuous improvement

The salary range for this role is 43,400 USD - 82,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
