The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Engineering Manager to support our Space Launch System (SLS) Stage Controller (SC) team located in Titusville, Florida. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.

The SLS SC Software Integration & Test (SWIT) team represents a group of problem solvers whose primary goal is to develop and maintain software tests in support of integration and verification testing along with the hardware and software configurations required. This testing is focused on the verification of the SC software to ensure qualification of the Engineering Upper Stage (EUS) at the Green Run/Hot Fire testing to make sure the EUS is ready for delivery to NASA. The SWIT team directly supports ground-based testing of the SLS EUS vehicle for key test events.

The Software Engineering Manager will provide direct management over the software integration, verification, lab operations and software configuration management teams. Additionally, the Manager will help bridge the gap between product development and product deployment with close ties to stakeholders in the Michoud Assembly Facility, Kennedy Space Center, Marshall Space Flight Center, and Stennis Space Center.

Position Responsibilities:

Support, lead, and efficiently delegate the project team's responsibilities and tasks through all stages of the project lifecycle.

Lead the establishment of common design practices, and workflows for code-generation, validation, and incorporation of these software products into a complex testing asset.

Manage the Titusville Development Lab (TDL) operations including development/obsolescence, maintenance, and execution of TDL Operation Plan.

Partner with Boeing software design, engineering, and simulation teams to ensure effective integration and testing to support the full product lifecycle.

Gather and interpret diverse technical information to guide comprehensive testing.

Develop plans, budgets; estimate timelines and resources needed for success.

Manage Risks, Issues & Opportunities and elevate in a timely manner to avert EAC growth.

Identify appropriate goals and metrics for product success and drive implementation across teams.

Establish the appropriate type and level of processes to improve product quality, tester performance and experience; simplify existing complex processes as needed; nurture and grow automation into builds/deployment/ and testing.

Collaborate with leadership team on strategy development to leverage the engineering and assets for long term transitions with the business strategy for SLS.

Provide clear written and spoken communication to a variety of audiences.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

5+ years of experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test)

5+ years of experience with performing software integration, test, validation, and verification

3+ years of experience leading or performing integration & test of avionics and/or software

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

Experience with mission/safety critical software development & verification

Experience in leading, managing, and growing software teams

Experience developing project execution plans, schedules and budgets

Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)

Travel:

Minimal (up to 10%) during verification cycles

Up to 50% as required to support Qualification activities at Stennis for Green Run testing.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for Manager Level K: $160,650 - $217,350

Potential signing bonus for eligible/qualified external candidates.
