Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Controls is seeking a full-time Materials and Processes Engineer to support in Orlando, FL. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing materials for use in structures, systems, and subsystems on major production programs, driving innovation in the aerospace industry.

What You Will Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and optimizing materials and surface treatment solutions for engineering applications.
  • Performing failure analyses, life prediction modeling, and material property development to support reliability goals.
  • Authoring clear technical documentation and contributing data packages for design reviews and customer deliverables.
  • Collaborating with cross functional teams—including product development, analysis groups, and production – to translate requirements into manufacturable solutions.
  • Supporting test planning, execution, and results interpretation to validate material performance.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and sharing best practices across the organization.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline (preferably in Material Science or Materials Engineering), or equivalent experience/combined education
  • Familiarity and a strong background in material manufacturing processes, material testing processes and procedures
  • Candidate must have the ability to travel and be willing to work off-site as needed for assignments.

Desired Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Engineering/Science
  • Experience with Materials and Processes associated with electronics assemblies and components
  • Experience working with full assemblies as well as subassemblies, down to components level
  • Experience supporting failure review boards and working towards corrective action
  • Familiarity with programs at MFC or experience working with US Govt DOD customers
  • Familiarity with evaluating and developing material and specifications
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints, machine drawings, 2-D drawings, CAD drawings and material callouts and/or material processing note

Security Clearance Statement:

This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely:

Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules:

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position:

4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
